Modern Slavery Statement for 2024/2025

disAbility Cornwall & IoS has zero tolerance for modern slavery and human trafficking. In alignment with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we are dedicated to ensuring transparency in our supply chains and charitable practices.  We take our responsibility seriously to prevent any form of modern slavery and human trafficking within our organisation and among those we work with.

Structure and Supply Chains

disAbility Cornwall & IoS is a values based, user-led charitable company with a mission to represent, include, support and empower people living with a long term health condition or disability, their families and carers in Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly. We also support community organisations and businesses to develop more inclusive approaches to meeting the needs of their clients and customers.  We have over 70 employees and are committed to ensuring that our staff, volunteers, and partner organisations share our commitment to prevent modern slavery.

Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking

We have in place several policies to uphold our commitment to ethical practices including:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Discipline and Grievance
  • Whistleblowing Policy
  • Anti Bribery
  • Bullying and Harassment

These policies define acceptable behaviour and outline procedures for reporting concerns.

Due Diligence Processes

We conduct rigorous due diligence processes to prevent modern slavery in our organisation and supply chains.  This includes vetting processes for new suppliers and monitoring compliance with our ethical standards.

We recognise that there are areas of our supply chains that pose the greatest risks to us.  We have identified these as:

  • Cleaning and waste services.

In these areas of risk, we conduct thorough due diligence to understand the measures these suppliers are taking before entering into a contract with them.  To facilitate this process, we have reviewed the provider agreements which cover modern slavery.

This statement sets out disAbility Cornwall & IoS commitment to preventing modern slavery within our organisation.  We will continue to work hard to ensure that we hold our values and our responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act.
